FOURTH BEST GAME OF ALL TIME
(July 22, 2000) The game that started the turn-based strategy phenomenon, Sid Meier's Civilization, is in the headlines again. IGN PC's senior editors have just completed their site's Top 25 Games Of All Time feature, and the original Civ has taken 4th spot. Some notable excerpts:

"Back before anyone realized that they were both game design geniuses, Sid Meier and Bruce Shelly sat down together to design a title that proved to be one of the most important releases in the history of the PC. There are so many things that were revolutionary about this game that a listing becomes pointless... One of the finest games ever crafted and a precursor of great titles to come".

Civ was thumped out of making it into the top three first by another Sid Meier title, Pirates!, followed by Dune 2: The Building of a Dynasty and X-COM: UFO Defense respectively. It is interesting to note that three of the top four titles cited by IGN PC were developed and published by MicroPROSE before 1995.       - DanQ
